Diviner Spring Barley
A specialist distilling variety that has many attributes important to all aspects of the whisky industry. It has higher hot water extract and predicted spirit yield than controls and good fermentability and suitable for pot still malt distilling.
- It offers higher yields, especially in the north and is quick to ripen.
- It has delivered very high yields in Agrii trials over the past three years (104% treated, 86% untreated) and similar strong performance in official trials (103% treated, 90% untreated) and average specific weight (67.5 kg/hl).
- Diviner is relatively short (68 cm) and stiff (7), excellent resistance to brackling (8), and earlier to mature (+1) than LG Diablo. It has also shown lower skinning levels compared with Laureate and Diablo.
- Reasonable disease resistance with mildew (9) and brown rust (5) but weaker against Rhynchosporium (4).
